I like this MUCH more than I should.

Automatic because 3.6L V6 is auto only.

I would have a hard time justifying this over the Chevy SS. The ATS works great as an entry-level luxury sedan, but I don't think it scales up well. The 3 series generally becomes a better value up until the M3, I'm not so sure on the ATS.

There are only two pluses to this over the SS:

Exterior looks (debatable)

Fuel economy

The interior of the Chevy is ridiculously nice, and well, V8.

We'll see, may be closer than people would guess. I mean if Cadillac is going straight for BMW like it seems and the CTS-V will get the LT4 (or some variant thereof), I'd guess the twin turbo V6 out of the CTS-V sport will go in the ATS-V and then it's basically the same power-for-power with the S55.

Although in terms of track times GM does have this thing for going crazy at the 'Ring, so I'm guessing they'll repeat that and handily one up the 7:52 BMW pulled.

I have a feeling the 3.6TT is gonna be tuned to make even more power in the ATS-V than it does in the V-Sport. Some improvements to some engine internals and a little up in the boost, and that thing could make closer to 450-460 horsepower, if not more.

Agreed, but if the early dyno reports for the M3 are any indication it's making near that at the wheels. BMW has really gone deep into the underrating game with all of their FI engines (okay, I may as well have said all US engines).

I still agree around a race track, however, as BMW's have never really been the king of lap times.

2.0T + Manual trans = more sporty to me. I am a fan of the Opulent Blue Metallic, though. Good taste there.
